This two-part webinar series will focus on how high-quality teaching, also known as quality-first teaching (QFT), can be targeted at identified areas of need. 

The two sessions will be aimed at mainstream subject leaders, class teachers and ITT students and will provide an insight into evidence-informed, high impact, low cost strategies and resources for the busy class teacher.

  • Part 1: This session will focus on High-Quality Teaching for students identified with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).
  • Part 2: This session will focus on High-Quality Teaching for students identified with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), including those on the Autism spectrum. 

Recording and materials from both sessions will be included below once the sessions have taken place.

Nicole Dempsey

Nicole Dempsey is Assistant Principal for Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities and Safeguarding at Dixons Trinity Academy, a mainstream secondary free school in Bradford, West Yorkshire, as well as having a role supporting further development of equality and diversity across the Dixons Trust.  She is also a Deputy Regional ºÚÁÏÍø Lead, in the Lancashire and West Yorkshire region, for Whole School ºÚÁÏÍø, a consortium of organisations committed to enhancing the quality of education for learners with special educational needs and/or disabilities throughout England.  She writes about ºÚÁÏÍø and inclusion on her blog, inco14.wordpress.com, and tweets under the username @NDempseyDTA.

James Pidcock

James Findlay-Pidcock is an Acting Director of Teaching School at East Lancashire Inclusion Partnership, Tor View – part of The Sea View Trust based in Haslingden, Lancashire. He is an experienced school leader having worked in Primary, Secondary, PRU/Alternative Provision and Special Schools as Assistant Head and Deputy Head. He also supports schools as a Specialist Leader of Education for ºÚÁÏÍø and was part of a team that collaborated to develop a SENCo and ºÚÁÏÍø Leader training package about High-Quality Teaching.
